Bright Spring Morning

The time is right to begin
Lets get going once again
For once in your life just let go

I'm getting sick of everything
Tired of what the next day brings
What I need is for you to follow my lead

The sun is shinning bright outside
I think I'll go for a ride
I plan not to ever return

Lets run away from here for good
Forget this dusty neighborhood
The open road is calling and begging for us

Go roll down the window
Go crank up that radio
Lets drive until we hit the sky
It's not about where we will go
Lets start living life before we die

If you want you can stay
But you'll regret the day
That you didn't follow your dreams

Imagine the wind in your hair
Blowing away all of your cares
So take my hand lets plan never to look back

The sun is shinning bright outside
I think I'll go for a ride
I plan not to ever return

Lets run away from here for good
Forget this dusty neighborhood
The open road is calling and begging for us

Go roll down the window
Go crank up that radio
Lets drive until we hit the sky
It's not about where we will go
Lets start living life before we die

True, it's all in my dreams
Yeah
You are all in my dreams
Yeah
What I need is a long holiday
What I need is to get away
From here for good tonight
Lets fly away tonight
On this bright spring morning
Send our spirits soaring
Now is the time

Go roll down the window
Go crank up that radio
Lets drive until we hit the sky
It's not about where we will go
Lets start living life before we die

Summer school is over. At least the first 6 week course. I'm planning on taking one more. Hopefully I will get an A in the class.

Work has been kinda crappy. It's just really boring and they give me such few hours. Plus they pair me with the worst workers. This only pushes me harder to finish school so I don't end up at a place like this the rest of my life.

Things have been going pretty nicely with Elizabeth. I don't think I could ask for more from her. I really do love her.

Lori contacted me a couple of weeks ago and we've been having conversations since then. Randomly online or sometimes over the phone. It's been sporadic at best mostly due to the fact that Joel, her husband, forbids her from speaking to me. I'm trouble apparently, I can't blame him though. If I were him, I'd be afraid of me too. Not cause I would steal Lori back, but because he knows a chunk of her heart is still devoted to me. Joel left for the weekend to visit a friend and left Lori here. We met up yesterday and just spent the day together talking. We had lunch and went to the pool. It was interesting. It's been 3.5 years since we broke up and during all the time, we've spoken only a handful of times and maybe of those 5 times only 2 have been over 20 mins. So for us to have pretty much an entire day to talk was odd. We caught up on what we've each been up too, old stories and experiences we've had from the past few years and what we're up to now. I had to go to work at night but we met up after work and were out till 5am talking. It's strange how someone who meant so much to you at one point could just walk out of your life and then reconnecting with that person. If anything it made me appreciate Elizabeth even more. So it was an interesting to say the least. She's kept her self in good condition, she dropped 30 lbs and looks like she did in high school but more mature. Who knows, maybe after some more time passes, Joel will lighten up and we can be real friends.

My music tastes have continued to evolve and I've been listening to a lot of Ska and DJ Scratching / Electronic music. Here are a few vids I found of a couple of Scratch Legends. Namely Mix Master Mike and DJ Qbert:

Interesting fact I found was that the 2 greatest DJ's both have Filipino blood in them. Here's a video of the next generation of turntablists, these 2 kids are 8 and 5 years old:

Where Have You Been / Don't Start a Band

You called me up last night in tears
And said you missed me after all these years
Well I’ve been waiting here so long,
I’ve gotten over it since you've been gone
You called me late last night again
And said you're finished with your new boyfriend
Asked if you could come back home
So sorry that you left me all alone

You say you love me, love me again but if you love me- where have you been?
You say you need me more than anyone else well go to hell, where have you been?

You showed up at my door today
And said my friend why do you push me away
Your life with him was just so dull
But what we had was something wonderful

You say you love me, you love me again but if you love me- where have you been?
You say you need me more than anyone else well go to hell- where have you been?

No way! You wish! I don't need this! What makes you think I’d ever want you again?
Yeah right! As if! I don't need this What makes you think I'd ever want you again?

So what's happened in the months past. Well I moved out back to my mom's. Things are alright living here so far. Her job requires her to be in DC 5 days a week so I don't have see her that often. Work, school and Elizabeth are all closer. So I guess it all worked out.

Elizabeth and I have been good. 2 months in and things have been pretty good. We hit a small bump last week but I think we're ok now.

School ended and now I'm in summer school. I'm just taking environmental economics and it's been pretty easy so far.

Not much else has really happened. Just reading a lot of books and sleeping a lot. Summer has been pretty boring so far. I can't wait for debate to start again. I feel like I'm getting rustier by the day. Speaking of debate, here was the last semester break down:

2nd Open Impromptu
1st Novice Drama

NPDA:

Phi Rho Pi:

Spring Record:

Since I have much more time to myself I'll try to update this more often than once every few months. Especially since I don't seem to talk to my friends anymore. I don't know if it's me or if that's just part of life. Everyone's busy with girl friends, school, work etc. I've tried to make an effort the past few days to reconnect to some long lost friends. So far I've gotten mixed results, I guess it's to be expected. Sometimes you just grow apart.

I've been watching these videos from a think tank called TED. Technology, Entertainment and Design. They're 20 minute lectures on a variety of subjects that are both entertaining and knowledgeable. Here's one of my favorites:

Good Night and Sweet Dreams.

Don't start a band
No body wants to hear no body wants to hear
Nobody understands
Don't start a band
You'll be so disappointed that it was nothing like you planned
Don't start a band
Oh yea yea yea

I hate to ruin the magic
I hate to kill the dream
But once you've been behind the scenes then you'll know just what I mean
You might think that's its cool to get up on stage
And play rock and roll from your heart and soul
But no one shows up and your songs all suck
And there's no applause and no flying bras
No girls will scream for you and no ones gonna sing along with you

Don't start a band
No body wants to hear nobody understands
Don't start a band
You will be so damn terrible they'll all think your shitty
Don't start a band
Oh yea yea yea
'cause you wont get paid
And you won't get laid

And even if you make it
All the way to MTV
I don't think you could take it
All the bullshit and the greed
Everyone is so fake when they shake you hand
And they kiss your ass 'cause then they get cash
And the business end will turn every friend
To an enemy oh you will see

They'll turn their their backs and they'll be gone
Faster than can say 'what did I do wrong'

Don't start a band
No body really cares nobody understands
Don't Start a Band
You will sign your lives away and then you'll be working for the man
Don't start a band oh yea yea yea

Your message will get lost
You'll get double crossed

And if you that the joy of playing
Will keep you going through the years
Wait till you poor and frustrated
And the fun just disappears
Nobody cares what you have to say
And noes gonna listen anyways

Rock and roll will bring you down
And it will kick you while your on the ground

Don't start a band
Don't even try you will regret it yea
Don't start a band
You'll be so disappointed that it was nothing like you planned
Don't start a band
Oh yea yea yea

So just give up now
I'll show you how
